RE: Local Firm Becomes Only ISO 9001:2000 Firm In It’s Market

January 7, 2002, NASHVILLE, TN – Besway Systems, Inc. announced today that it has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification.  The company underwent an in-depth audit in December, 2001 and was subsequently informed it had met qualifications of this global standard for quality.

Besway becomes the only company in its market of specialty industrial solvents that has earned this status and joins companies such as Wright Industries, Peterson Tool, and The Aerostructures Corporation as one of only sixteen Nashville companies listed as ISO certified.

Besway Vice-President John Krenson indicated that registration as an ISO company is a great endorsement of the quality procedures that Besway has always had as a part of its business.  “Quality and safety have been a major part of our operating plan – they both lead to a stable and growing bottom line.  And, Besway achieved ISO certification in 6 months -- a relatively short period of time which was made possible by the company’s long-standing dedication to those quality and safety goals.”

Krenson further noted that the Besway staff achieved this certification while still successfully managing the operational challenges of a rapid growth year.  “I believe that getting the ISO processes implemented really helped navigate the challenges of our growth,” said Krenson.

ISO 9001:2000 is recognized around the world as a standard upon which other companies can rely to indicate a benchmark level of  the legitimacy and quality of another firm.  The focus of an ISO quality system is on continuous improvement and quality assurance as opposed to just problem detection.  ISO goes beyond manufacturing processes and applies equally to customer service, research and development, vendor performance, advanced training for staff, and problem prevention within the business.

The SGS International Services auditor indicated, “The logical manner of implementation of the Quality Management System requirements, along with the apparent involvement and commitment of all employees at Besway is commendable.”  In permeating the organization, ISO eliminates inefficient practices and brings better synthesis to all processes.

Krenson clarified, “ISO is not an end in itself, but rather a mode of operating that by it’s nature forces continual improvement.”

Besway Systems is a manufacturer of specialty solvents and cleaners used in a variety of industrial settings.  It also provides OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state and local regulatory consulting for the chemical and water treatment industries.  Besway Systems’ offices and plant are in Madison, TN.
